Who is the SANP?

The SANP or Saskatchewan Association of Naturopathic Practitioners is the governing body for Naturopathic Doctors in the province of Saskatchewan.  Naturopathic Medicine is a regulated health profession in Saskatchewan (The Naturopathy Act, 1978).  We are responsible for the licensing and regulation of Naturopathic Doctors in the province of Saskatchewan.  We ensure that all members are trained and educated according to our rigorous standards.  We oversee all inquiries regarding professional conduct and public safety.

The SANP is available as a public and professional resource and we provide information and position statements on health topics and issues. The SANP works closely with the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (www.cand.ca) and ensures the highest professional standards are maintained.

SANP initiatives

The SANP is currently working with the Government of Saskatchewan to update our Act and Bylaws.  We are looking to expand our scope of practice to better serve our patients and we are lobbying to enhance public safety by changing our title protection and creating stiffer penalties for those non-registered practitioners practicing within the scope of practice of Naturopathic Doctors.

Postcard campaign

We are involved in a postcard campaign where by you can sign a postcard, available through a Naturopathic Doctor in the province of Saskatchewan, and mail it to our Health Minister, Mr. Don McMorris.  This will assist us in reinforcing to the government the public’s demand for increased access to Naturopathic Doctors, improved scope of practice for Naturopathic Doctors and the demand for public safety in the field of natural medicine through an update to The Naturopathy Act 1978.

To assist us in our campaign, please contact us and inquire about how you can obtain a postcard to send to the Health Minister.

You can also email Mr. McMorris - Simply click on the link above to open the letter in Microsoft Word.

If you use Outlook, you can send the letter directly.

1.        In Word, on the File menu, click Send to, and then click Mail Recipient or click on the Email icon (shown below on the toolbar, often to the left of the Print icon).

2.        The recipient’s name and email address (mcmorris.mla@sasktel.net) should appear in the To box, and The Naturopathy Act should appear in the Subject box.

3.        Click Send a Copy Button image, or press ALT+S.

Alternatively you can copy and paste the text into a New email using the email service you are familiar with.

Make no mistake, bananas are one of the best sources of potassium - key mineral for maintaining normal blood pressure and heart function and thus reduce the risk of heart stroke.
